Eli Timothy TROUTT was born 23 Aug 1877 in Knox County, TN, the son of Francis Marion TROUTT (1845-1913) and Mary Elizabeth CLAPP (1842-after 1910).
At age 21, Eli served as a private in Company "H", B Regiment, during the Spanish American War (1898). Eli's older brother, Horace, also served.
Eli died 10 May 1957 at age 78 years, 8 months and 17 days. Eli shares his gravestone with his twin brother, Charles Caesar TROUTT.
