Pamela A. (Hansen) Hruska Phillips, 63, began a new journey as she left us on November 14, 2007. Pam was a part of the Bozeman and Belgrade communities for most of her life.
Pam was born October 25, 1944, to Muriel and Al Hansen of Clyde Park. She attended school in Clyde Park and graduated in 1962 as valedictorian of her class. She received a scholarship and attended Montana State University for one year, while also serving as private secretary to the Agriculture Department Head.
In 1964, she married Michael Hruska, and they began their life together in San Diego and then China Lake, California, while Mike served in the Navy. Their son Bruce was born in China Lake in 1965.
When Mike was assigned sea duty, Pam came home to Clyde Park. Their daughter Robin was born in Livingston in 1966. In 1969 the couple permanently returned to Montana and purchased "The Bowl".
Throughout her life, Pam's priority was her children and family. She was thoughtful and giving and loved to have fun times with lots of laughter. Pam was an avid skier, a great photographer and a gifted artist in many ways. She was talented at throwing parties, making great food and elaborate cakes and organizing fun games. Pam eventually returned to college and received her bachelor's degree in Art in 1984.
Some of Pam's other business endeavors in the 1980s included the St. Bernard Restaurant at Bridger Bowl, Bozeman Business Center, Express Services and selling real estate for Lone Mountain Realty. Pam and Mike were divorced in 1984.
On September 6, 1987, Pam married William Phillips. Together they ran a trucking agency for Ranger Trucking, winning National Agent of the Year award in 1992. They sold the business that same year.
In 1995 Pam and Bill moved to Great Falls, building homes and condominiums in partnership with her son, Bruce Hruska. In 1998 Pam and Bill came back to Bozeman and began the company Phillips Environmental Products, her biggest and final project.
Pam loved to travel. Some of her most recent journeys included Hawaii, the United Arab Emirates, the Madagascar rain forests and a road trip with her sister, Patty, to art galleries in the Southwest.
Bill preceded Pam in death, as did her parents and a nephew, Jeff Bauer.
She is survived by her two children, Robin Hruska Myer (Dave) and Bruce Hruska; five stepchildren, Pam (Dale) Halgren, William Leonard (Amy) Phillips, Brian Phillips, Matthew Phillips and Aaron Phillips. Her grandchildren are: Josh and Levi Hruska Myer, Eric, Heather and Amanda Halgren, Matthew Phillips, David, Daniel and Lydia Phillips, Gunner and Sabrina Phillips, and Aidan Phillips. Her sister and brother-in-law, Patty and Cliff Miller of Livingston, and her Aunt Dolly Allan of Billings also survive her.
A graveside memorial will be held at the Clyde Park Cemetery.
