Mrs. Maria Haws, 73, passed away at her home here last Friday night following a lingering illness. She was born in Sweden, January 5, 1866, a daughter of Niels Andersen and Allie Petersen. When still a young girl she came to Utah. She married Edwin Haws and to couple were born II children. six of whom survive: Edwin A Haws, Butte, Montana, Noble Haws of Burley, Idaho; Mrs. Hermoine Rose, Santa Ana, California; Mrs. Lucinda Ballam, Redwood, California; Garland and Amber Haw, of Hyrum. There are also 16 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Hyrum Third ward chapel with Bp. Ether L.
Nielsen in charge.
The ward choir rendered two selections. Other musical numbers included a vocal solo by Charles Garner, a vocal duet by Leonard Larsen and Earl Allen and an organ solo by Reta Jensen.
Speakers were L. P. Maughan, O. M. Wilson and Elroy Nielsen, and closing remarks were made by Bishop Nielsen. Prayers were offered by Albert Savage and Hans B. Nielsen.
Interment was in the Hyrum City Cemetery under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home. LeGrande Miller dedicated the grave.
