Elizabeth "Betty" J. Duranceau, age 80, of Tomahawk, WI, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at her home. Betty was born in Bevent, WI, on April 10, 1941, to the late Ruben and Lucille (Wroblewski) Goretski. She was married to David Duranceau on January 29, 1992; he survives.
Betty grew up in the Schofield area where she was a 1959 graduate of the D.C. Everest High School. After high school, she entered the workforce beginning employment at Marathon Battery. She was employed at Drott/J.I. Case where she retired and also worked in the floral department at Nelson's/Trig's Supermarket. Betty was a lifetime member of the Wausau Eagles Club, a lioness with the Tomahawk Lions Club, and was the former secretary for the Marathon County Tavern League. She was passionate in raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin.
Betty was known for her witty and wonderful sense of humor who loved Betty Boop and photo bombing. She had many hobbies which included shooting pool and playing darts, fishing, gardening, canning, and loved to travel, especially to Canada. Betty was outgoing and social and surrounded herself with many friends. Above all, she cherished her family and the time they spent together.
Survivors include her husband, David Duranceau, of Tomahawk; three sons, Forrest Kahre, of Tomahawk; Matt (Jody) Duranceau, of Merrill, WI; and Brian Duranceau, of Tomahawk; two daughters, Brenda Williams, of Wausau, WI, and Carla Kahre, of Wausau; two brothers, Tom (Kathy) Goretski, of Plover, WI, and Don (Charlene) Goretski, of Wausau; and her sister-in-law, Geraldine Goretski, of Sayner, WI.
Betty is further survived by 9 grandchildren, Pamela Riggs, Michael Wadinski, Dillon Williams, Brooke Williams, Aubrey Duranceau, Brigit Ruland, Chassidy Kahre, Brandon Wanta, and Justin Wanta.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben and Lucille; her sister, Elaine; her brother, Harold; and her stepson, Jody.
Funeral services for Elizabeth "Betty" Duranceau will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 11:00 AM, at Generations Funeral Home. Rev. Eric Hauan will officiate. The family will receive friends for visitation from 9:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Kronenwetter, WI.
