Willard L. "Toots" Holladay Sr., 67, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rumsey Funeral Home. Burial will be at Hubbel Hill Cemetery in Tonganoxie. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 852 of Lawrence.
Mr. Holladay died this morning at his home. He was born Aug. 31, 1923, in rural Tonganoxie and graduated from Tonganoxie High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Following the war, he moved to Lawrence and worked for List and Clark Construction. After living in a number of different states, he returned to Lawrence and worked for Constant Construction until his retirement in 1972.
Mr. Holladay was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Alford-Clarke Post 852 of the VFW and Dorsey-Liberty Post 14 of the American Legion. He also was a member of the Teamsters Union of Topeka.
His hobbies were electric trains, woodworking and gardening.
Mr. Holladay married Rebecca Ellen Grant on Feb. 25, 1943, in Tonganoxie. She died in 1988.
Survivors include two sons, Willard Jr. and Robert, both of Lawrence; three daughters, Gloria Kaye Musick, Wellsville, Velma Flory, Baldwin, and Marjorie Hoffman, Lawrence; a sister, Ella Jane Jones, Lawrence; and eight grandchildren.
