AH YAT, HERMAN FRANK, age 54, of 914 Lake Road, Honolulu, passed away January 20, 1968, at the Stanford Medical Center after open heart surgery in Palo Alto, Calif. He was born January 16, 1914, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Friends may call at the chapel of Borthwick Mortuary from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday evening, January 24 and after 8 a.m., Thursday, January 25. Rosary will be recited at 7:30, Wednesday evening. The procession will leave at 9:46 a.m., Thursday for the Requiem Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Theresa's Church. Interment to follow at Valley of the Temples Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Mattson Ah Yat, sons, Herman P. (Wake Island); Timothy P., Wayne L. (U.S. Navy, Calif.) & Gregory P. Ah Yat; daughter, Mrs. Abraham (Peggy) Mokunui; mother, Mrs. Victoria Ah Yat; brothers, John, Ernest, Irving, Edward and Clement Ah Yat & William Ewaliko; sisters, Mrs. Maria Artis, Mrs. Victoria Ward, Mrs. Muriel Sanders (Calif.) & Mrs. Hannah Kaahanui; 4 grandchildren. Mr. Ah Yat retired on Nov. 15 of last year from the Honolulu Police Dept. after 25 years of service. Borthwick Mortuary in charge of funeral arrangements.
