The Adairs were among the oldest families of Graves county, KY. They originally came from Ireland and settled in one of the Atlantic States, a number of years before the war of the Revolution. The family originally settled in South Carolina,

where James Adair distinguished himself in the war of Independance as a member of the celebrated Marion's band. Late in life he settled in Alabama, where he died in about the year of 1839 or 40.

His son, John Adair married Margaret Wilson and came to Graves county, KY in 1830.Some of the Adairs went to Temple, OK

William Turner Adair married Georgia Ann Yarbrough some have her name Georgean she is the daughter of William Abner Billy Yarbrough and Elizabeth Georgia Leech
