Obituary for Mrs. Cordia Mae (Sheppard) Brashears
"Funeral services for Cordia Mae "Sweet" Brashears, of 513 Portland Avenue, Marshall, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lewis Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. J.W. Reeves officiating. Burial will be in McJohnson Cemetery. Mrs. Brashears died after a long illness on Monday, December 12, 1983 in Marshall Memorial Hospital. She was born in Harrison County, the daughter of Norah Sheppard and Ibbie Sheppard Leffall. She attended Harrison County public schools.
She was a housekeeper and was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Elysian Fields. Survivors include two sons, Conley Brashears Jr. and Gerald Omagene Brashears, both of Marshall; five daughters, Connie Mae Brashears, Thelma Darty, Shirley Brashears, Mary Else and Wanda Brashears, all of Marshall; one stepsister, Mrs. Eddie Lee Lewis, of Dallas; and seven grandchildren. A family hour will be observed Friday, from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home."

"Funeral services for Conley Brashears, of 900 Elm Street, will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Lewis Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. W.H. Harris officiating. Burial will be in the McJohnson Cemetery. Mr. Brashears, a lifetime resident of Marshall, died following a brief illness on Monday at Marshall Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Cordia Mae Brashears, of Marshall; two sons, Conley Brashears Jr. and Gerald Omagene Brashears, both of Marshall; and five daughters, Mrs. Thelma Darty, Miss Connie Mae Brashears, Miss Mary Catherine Brashears, Miss Wanda Jean Brashears and Miss Shirley Jean Brashears, all of Marshall; and one sister, Mrs. Estella McClendon, of Marshall. "
