Kathe Harrell
September 2, 1938 - September 29, 2021

Kathe Horing Harrell was born September 2, 1938 in Neiderstafenbach, Germany to Augusta and Rudolf Horing. She was one of nine brothers and sisters. On May 4, 1957 she married Paul Kenneth Harrell in Ramstein, Germany. Growing up as a small child in Germany during World War II, Kathe had many stories of what life was like during that time and the difficult times she and her family faced. Yet as difficult as it must have been, she was always able to inject humor into those otherwise harrowing stories. That humor and quick wit were trademarks that Kathe's family and close friends knew very well.

After marrying PK, Kathe moved to the United States with her husband and she learned to speak English by watching television. She laughed and said she learned English watching cartoons and soap operas. She became a naturalized U.S. Citizen and she was always very proud of her citizenship. She laughed and told stories of coming to Celeste from Germany. She thought she was coming to the land of milk and honey where everyone was rich. Then she arrived at PK"s relative's farm in rural Celeste after it had rained and she discovered the sticky black mud. She cried and wondered what she had gotten herself into. However, she grew to love it.

Kathe was a wonderful wife and mother and she dedicated her life to her family, her husband, her daughters and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Celeste Church of Christ. She loved her church and prior to her illness was very active in the church and community events. She was a red hat lady and she LOVED garage sales. Although the ravages of dementia took parts of her memory, she never lost that sense of humor and quick wit. She never became bitter or agitated and continued to laugh and have fun even displaying that trademark quick wit to the amazement of family members as her dementia worsened. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband, her first born daughter, Barbara and all but one of her siblings. She is survived by her daughters Gloria Arp of Celeste and Paula Lyon and husband Ronnie of Boerne; grandchildren Leeza McIntier; Kristi Ross, Karen Goodwin and Kevin Lyon; eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many other friends and family. Kathe was a wonderful person and she will be truly missed by all who knew her!!

Services will be at 2:00 pm Friday October 8, at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Leonard Chapel. Burial will follow at Celeste Cemetery
