Jerry Joe Warner, 78, of Hoopeston, Illinois, passed away at 4:41 A.M Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Hoopeston.

He was born April 25, 1943 in Hoopeston, the son of Wilbur and Viola Mae (Robertson) Warner.

He is survived by two daughters, Amy Warner of Hoopeston and Penny (Mike) Hurt of Rankin; three brothers, Arthur "Art" (Jeanne) Warner of Rockford, Illinois, Steve (Susan) Warner of Clovis, New Mexico and Mike (Kim) Warner of Hoopeston; one granddaughter, Mercedes Warner of Rankin and many loved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by four sisters, Betty Horridge, Joanne Catron, Edith Catron and Ruth Anne Bell; five brothers, Wilbur "Bud" Warner, Herschel Lee Warner, Paul Warner, Irvin Warner and William "Bill" Warner.

Jerry served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict, where he was awarded three Purple Hearts, four Bronze Stars, 5 Air Medals, a Markmanship Metal, and a National Defense Metal. He also served on the Hoopeston Police Department where he was chief for one year. He then worked at FMC for six years before he retired as the owner operator for independent truck drivers where he worked for over ten years. Jerry enjoyed coaching softball for many years and watching the Chicago Bears.

Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
