Born Dec. 28, 1937, in Greencastle, she was the daughter of Everett and Violet (Miller) York.
She was a cook at DePauw University for several years and a cashier at Wal-Mart.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and was an active member of the Lutheran Ladies Missionary League.
Survivors include sons Donald York, Greencastle, Bobby York and wife Patty, Pensacola, Fla., Randy Runnells, Greencastle; daughters Susie Smith, Simpsonville, S.C., Lori Detro and husband, Gene, Greencastle; 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death were her parents, husband Wayne R. Runnells, son Ronnie L. York, brothers Duward York, Hubert York, Max York, Jesse York, Von York, Doyle York, sisters Wanda York and Diane York, a grandson and two granddaughters.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church, 1421 South Bloomington St., Greencastle, with Pastor Alan Barber officiating. Internment will follow at Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home and one hour prior to service time at the church.
