Big Rapids – Gertrude Irene Moore, 93, of Big Rapids, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Metron Nursing Center. Irene was born on October 3, 1923, the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Troupe in Big Rapids. On November 3, 1945, she married John L. Moore. They made their home in Eaton Rapids for many years.
She worked at Corning until she retired. Upon retirement, Irene and John made their home in Grant Center. She was a member of the Grant Center United Methodist Church for many years.
Gertrude is survived by her sister-in-law, Genevieve Troupe and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John L. in 1988, her sister Eva Newberry, brothers; Arthur, Samuel, Frank and Louis and her special niece Anna Pearl Westover.
A memorial service for Gertrude will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Grant Center United Methodist Church in Big Rapids, with interment immediately following at Grant Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Mohnke Funeral Home to help with final expenses.
