Alan was a member of Bailey United Methodist Church. He spent many seasons of his behind the wheel of a tractor farming. When he wasn't plowing the fields he would paint and repair tractors. Above all of his interest, Alan cherished his family and simply enjoyed being in their presence. Although he has gone to rest in a sacred place free from sickness; Alan will be profoundly missed by his family and friends.
Those left to cherish Alan's memory are his wife Melinda Murphree of Vardaman, mother, Nila Rose Murphree of Vardaman, brother, Adrian (Barbara) Murphree of Memphis, daughters, Shonda Coleman, of Mantachie, Kimberley (Dustin) Cardof Monte Vista and Sara Murphree of Vardaman, bonus children, Crystal (Tracy) Pickering of Shannon, Ashley (Randy) Thomas of Thaxton and Elizabeth (Dennis) Reynolds, of Bruce, grandchildren, Makayla, Evan, Kylee, Peyton, Bentley, Keylee, Kylee, Paige, Shyann, Jacob, Hailey, Addison, Kam and Serinity.
Alan is preceded in death by his father Hubert Murphree, grandparents; Lade Stroup, Nora Stroup, Forrest Murphree, and Maudie Murphree.
A funeral service honoring Alan's life will be held on Sunday, at 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Robert Earl Alexander and Bro. Dennis Dorris officiating. Burial will be held in Poplar Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Parker Memorial Funeral Home with visitation from 1:00 until 2:00 Sunday before the funeral service.
Those serving as pallbearers will be: David Fleming, Rocky Fleming, Tracy Pickering, Dennis Reynolds, Randy Thomas, Andy Landreth and Anthony Stroup. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dusty Card, Homer Moore, Jim Moore and Barry Haire.
