Grew to manhood in Ind. Age 21, he married Louisa Pike, 20 January 1843. Ten children, five survive; Pleasant, Sumner, MO.; Edward, Kansas; John M., Linn County, MO; Lucretia C. Hale, Browning, MO; and Anna E. Dillinger, Cora, MO. Wife died leaving him with small children. Married Rebecca Spencer. Three children. Francis, Mrs. B.A. Hill and Mrs. Minnie Coffman.
