Carol L. Boone was the seventh of fourteen children born to the union of Charles and Georgia Luck on August 9, 1936. She has always been a kind and gentle soul, and was referred to by her father as good girl. This title was affectionately shortened to the nickname "Goodga" at a young age and remained with her throughout her life.

Carol and her siblings attended Hickory Tree Grade School where they learned academics as well as powerful life's lessons from Mrs. Alice H. Merritt in a one-room schoolhouse. Hanging prominently on the wall was a banner with the saying "Aim High and Hold Your Aim". Looking at those words every day for seven years impacted Carol greatly, and she moved forward in life aiming high, while making contributions to others along the way. Carol went on to attend Southside High School in Pittsylvania County, Virginia before graduating from Virginia State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.

In 1961, while teaching English at Luther H. Foster High School in Nottaway, Virginia, Carol met the love of her life, Herman Boone. He fondly recalls the first day he heard her high heels clicking as she walked down the hallway with purpose. He instantly proclaimed, "That will be the mother of my children". They were married on July 21,1962 in New York City. They started their life together in Williamston, North Carolina, before moving to Alexandria, Virginia in 1969.

After ten years of teaching English, Carol entered the United States Postal Service where she retired as a supervisor. It was there that she met Dee-Dee Ruffin who turned out to be not just her boss, but became her best friend whom she lovingly referred to as "Buddy".

Carol was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her talents and interests were many including completing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, cooking, reading and spending time with her family. In August 1975, she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and dedicated her life to doing the will of God. Her faith in Jehovah's promise of everlasting life in a paradise on earth was a source of great comfort for her and she would rejoice each time she heard her favorite kingdom melody "Life Without End at Last".

Carol fell asleep in death on Saturday, March 23, 2019. Carol was preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Georgia Luck; three brothers: Charles Luck Jr.(Marian), Nelson Luck (Irma), Carl Reginald; four sisters: Shirley Jones (Nathaniel), Nancy Wright (James), Constance Deborah Lewis (Richard), Elaine Luck; and her beautiful daughter, Donna Maria Dulany.

Carol leaves to cherish her memory a husband of 57 years: Herman Boone; two daughters: Sharon Henderson (Anthony), Monica Merritt (Darron); six grandchildren: Camri Pearson (Raynan), Kiara Johnson, Mackenzie Merritt, Lauren Dulany, Myles Merritt and William Dulany; five sisters: Lois Woltz, Ola Ruth Luck, Sally Collins (special friend Everett), Willa Robinson (Timothy), and Arhonda Braggs (William): one brother: Leland Luck; special grandchildren: Virginia Aldunate (Steven), Roberto Small, Brandi Phillips, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of loving friends.

Carol L. Boone quietly moved through her life's journey, and without fanfare, maintained spiritual and professional growth, social adjustments, and reared her family with remarkable persistence, grace and serenity. She has indeed, with the blessings of Jehovah God, effectively and fruitfully governed her life.
