MARTHA J. "MARTI" BORTON
Martha J. "Marti" Borton, 70, a resident of the Cornelius community, died Sunday evening, July 29, 2007 at the Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro.
A Celebration of Martha's Life will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home, 2308 Pacific Avenue in Forest Grove, with Reverend Michael Crossman, pastor of the Valley Full Gospel Church in Forest Grove, officiating. Concluding Rites and Interment will follow at the Valley Memorial Park in Hillsboro.
Family and friends are invited to a reception immediately following the cemetery rites, to be held at the Valley Full Gospel Church, located at the Forest Grove Grange Hall on B Street in Forest Grove.
MARTHA JANE "MARTI" BORTON was born December 27, 1936 in Bolivar, Missouri, the daughter of Rosa Lewis. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Oregon, settling in the Vernonia community, where she attended the Vernonia High School.
She was united in marriage to Ralph I. Borton on August 27, 1978 in Reno, Nevada. Following their marriage they made their home in the communities of North Plains, Forest Grove, and Cornelius. Marti was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, on February 12, 2004, after celebrating over twenty-five years of marriage.
Marti worked as a cook and bartender for the Twin Oaks Tavern for several years.
She attended the Valley Full Gospel Church in Forest Grove.
Among her interests, Marti enjoyed sewing, camping, shopping, and visiting the Oregon Coast. She had a special love for her dog, Cowboy.
She was preceded in death by her mother and her daughter, Saundra K. Wilson in 1983
Martha is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl "Harry" and Christine Weaver of Gaston, Oregon and John L. and Karen Horsley of Forest Grove, Oregon; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty L. and Rev. Michael Crossman of Hillsboro, Oregon and Mildred L. "Millie" and Jim Ayers of Forest Grove, Oregon; her stepfather, Pastor Los Horsley and his wife, Evelyn, of Cornelius; a granddaughter, Tawnie R. Pittenger and her husband, Eli, of Aloha, Oregon; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob, and Michael; and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 0330 SW Curry Street, Portland, Oregon 97204, in her memory.
