Jo Ann Acree, age 81, passed away Friday, September 10th, 2021 at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle fighting multiple health challenges.

Jo Ann was born in Toccoa, Georgia and spent her early years within the South Georgia cotton farm community. She chose a career in law enforcement becoming the first female police officer in Morrow, Georgia. Jo Ann retired in 2004 after 29 years, within which she obtained the rank of Captain and then Director of 911.

Jo Ann loved to travel and cherished the experience to meet people from many beautiful places around the world. Jo Ann had a never-ending passion for genealogy and proved "one could never have enough kin"! Also an extreme garden enthusiast, her greatest pleasure was tending her multitudes of flowers, "we need just one more pot here"! Her haven...home at the cabin among the rolling mountains, sunshine and her love, Jack!

Jo Ann is survived by Jack Evans, her husband of 26 years. No greater man exists, his love and devotion to Jo Ann is inspirational! She is also survived by her sisters Betty Calhoun and Carolyn Black. She was preceded in death by brothers Jimmy Acree and Billy Acree. Jo Ann leaves five children, Deborah Woods, Faye Permenter, Gaye Morton (Ron), Rusty Beamon (CeCe),and Jennifer Bramlett (Kenny, preceded in death). Jo Ann leaves a beautiful extended family of seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. We will all miss the love of our Invincible Memaw! In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions to PICKENS ANIMAL RESCUE, 706-253-5383, in Jo Ann's name.

Parents James Alex Acree, Sr. (1917-1989) & Dora Elizabeth Olds (1921-1996); married 14 August 1938 in Georgia. Sent in by SBR 49039178
