Andrew C. Doughty, known throughout South Texas as one of the pioneer settlers and cattlemen of this section, died at the Kleberg county hospital here yesterday afternoon, following an illness of a few days. Funeral services were held this afternoon from the First Presbyterian church of this city with Dr. J. W. Skinner, president of the Tex-Mex Industrial institute, assisted by Rev. G. F. Williams officiating. Burial was in the Chamberlain burial park here.

Mr. Doughty was brought to Texas when a baby from Mississippi, where he was born on August 19, 1851, the family being among the early settlers of the Refugio community. He was united in marriage to Isabel Moses at Rockport in May 1873.

To this union were born seven children, all of whom, together with the widow, survive and were here at the time of Mr. Doughty's death.

Deceased is survived by four sons; W. D. Doughty of Robstown, W. M. Doughty of San Antonio. Three daughters, Mrs. Clyde Wilson of Corpus Christi, Mrs. J. S. Beckham of Kingsville, and Mrs. W. Downing of Robstown. One brother, J. M. Doughty who resides in the state of Washington, and four sisters, Mrs. Lydia Bailey of Houston, Mrs. E. P. Perenot of Austin, Mrs. Alice Quinn of Woodsboro, and Mrs. C. P. Edison of Beeville.

Another article dated December 06, 1929 in the Corpus Christi Times indicates that he lived in the Refugio community many years until about ten years prior to his death, when he came to Kingsville and accepted a position with the Kingsville Lumber Company. Survivors are listed as his wife, Isabelle; children; W. M. Doughty of Edinburg; E. P. Doughty of San Antonio; W. D. Doughty of Robstown; Mrs. Clyde Wilson of Corpus Christi; Mrs. W. Downing of Robstown; A. C. Doughty, Jr. of Linn, Texas; and Mrs. J. E. Beckham of Kingsville. Surviving brothers and sisters include J. M. Doughty of the state of Washington; Mrs. Lydia Bailey of Houston; E. P. Perrymont of Austin; Mrs. Alice Quinn of Woodsboro; and Mrs. C. P. Edison of Beeville.
