Was enumerated in the 1910 Federal Census of Sussex County, Virginia, as wife of Amos H. Crowder. Her birth information was obtained from the 1900 Federal Census which listed month and year of birth as FEB 1878. Her youngest child, Rose Ellen Crowder, was born in 1911, but she was not enumerated in 1920 Federal Census. Therefore, Rose Ellen (Mayes) Crowder died sometime between 1911 and 1920. Virginia was not recording deaths between 1896 - 1913/14, so, she must have died between the birth of her last child in 1911 and 1914 when Virginia resumed recording vital statistics. If she had died after1914, a death certificate would be accessable. Note that she was Rosa in 1880 and 1900 censuses, but Ellen on her marriage license in 1897 and Rose in the 1910 census.
