Laura Adkins, a well-known and respected citizen, died at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur Monday night. She had been in failing health for some time and was in the hospital for several days. She had lived in the Sullivan and Lovington neighborhoods all her life. Her husband and her were pioneer citizens of Lovington and were very successful.

She was born near Sullivan, Aug. 10, 1864. She was united in marriage to William Adkins who passed away 24 years ago. To this union 7 children were born. One daughter Ida Weeks passed away 29 years ago. A son Frank passed nine months ago. The children left to mourn her are, Mrs. Myrtle Salling, Hammond, Mrs. Zona Weeks Lovington, Mrs. Jennie Alexander ,Atwood; sons, Rodney,William, Lovington.

Funeral services were held Thursday with burial in Hewitt Cemetery.
