Detective Milford W. Eaves, DSN 5020, received his commission to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department on 02/10/1964. After the academy Officer Eaves started in the 3rd district on 06/01/1964. Officer Eaves remained in this uniformed assignment until he was transferred into the Juvenile Division as a detective on 06/02/1969. Detective Eaves would remain in this position until his retirement on 05/11/1986. During his career he was the recipient of 2 Chief Letters of Commendation on 07/01/1968, and 12/01/1974. Both of these awards were for police work above and beyond the normal call of duty. Detective Eaves faithfully served 22.25 years of dedicated service to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

Milford Eaves, Sr., 80, of Farmington passed away September 16, 2021 at Southbrook Skilled Nursing Center in Farmington. He was born October 23, 1940 in Fredericktown, MO to the late Milford Eaves and Mary Marguerite (Wood) Eaves-Trogdon. Milford was a member of the Park Hills Church of Christ. He was a Police Officer with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department from 1964 until his retirement in 1986. He was a Master Mason with the Fenton Masonic Lodge #281 and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. Milford enjoyed bird watching, reading, collecting arrowheads and was known to be a history buff.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Edward "Eddie" Eaves.

Milford is survived by his daughter, Cindy Johnson and husband Oliver; son, Milford Eaves, Jr.; four grandchildren, Alex Johnson, Dylan Eaves, Avery Eaves and Jaxsen Eaves; one great-granddaughter, Remi Wirt-Eaves; nephew, Joe Eaves and wife Gayla; great-nephew, Cody (Amy) Eaves; great-niece, Randi (Bryan) Crabdree; granddaughter-in-law, Missie Hammers. Several other family and friends also survive.
