Anita Papritz Cole, age 84, of Lynnwood, Washington passed away on Wednesday, September 8th in her home surrounded by family. She had battled an aggressive cancer for the past 10 months. With her usual grace and dignity, she never complained once about her diagnosis, treatment or prognosis.

She was born on March 4th in Everett, Washington and raised in rural Mukilteo. Anita attended Everett High School (Homecoming Queen and Seagal), Everett Junior College (Homecoming Queen) and Western Washington University (Homecoming Princess) where she received her BA in education. She met the love of her life while at Everett Junior College and he is Gene Cole. They went on to marry and she taught kindergarten until she and Gene started their family. They recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Her greatest passion was caring for others and she succeeded at every turn in her ability to do this. Her unconditional love was unmistakable and rare. She lit up the room with her bright, sparkling blue eyes, warm smile and gentle nature. Her greatest pleasures came from nature--flowers, pussy willows, snowflakes, rainbows and hummingbirds. Her generosity in sharing flowers, pussy willows, fruit from their trees, special gifts and hand written notes were all blessings in our lives. Her love for us never failed.

She was our comfort, our strength, our sunshine in a world that can be cruel. Her love of life was contagious every day. She gave herself to all of us in a way only she could. Her presence in our life will be missed more than words can say. It has not made sense to us that you have suffered with the wonderful life you have lived. The only thing that makes sense now is that God wanted his angel to come home.

Anita is survived by her loving, devoted husband Gene, son Brian (wife Victoria), daughters Kelly (husband Tony) and Jennifer (husband Mike and daughter McKenzie). Her grandchildren include Brandon Cole, Taylor Cole, McKenzie Creagan, Brittany Conley, and Carryn Vandergiend. Her great-granddaughter is Mercy Jane Conley. In addition, she is survived by her brothers Gordon Papritz (children Dale, Debbie, Della, and Dana and their children), Cal Papritz (wife Diane and children Dan, Mike, Tom and Adam and their children) and her nieces Julie (husband Phil) and Andy Warren. There are also many loving Cole and Papritz nephews and in-laws.

A visitation, funeral service, reception, and private family committal service for Anita was held Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, WA 98036.
