In addition to being a life-long believer in Christ, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Doris was an active member in her community. During her children's youth, she was a Red Cross trained "Gray Lady" in the clinic at Bayview Elementary, a Cub Scout den mother, and the organizer of a Youth Bowling League. Later she volunteered in the Parrish Hospital Auxiliary, was a 25+ year member and 3-term president of the Titusville Women's Club, and served numerous times on the Homeowners' Association Board at the condominium complex where she lived for over thirty years. She also enjoyed sewing, cross-stitch embroidery and baking in her spare time.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 72 years, Robert J. McDowell; their infant son, Tommy Ray; brothers Adrian & Dale Trachsel; & sister Kay Stull. Survived by sons Tim (Gerri) McDowell of Macungie; Jeff (Melody) McDowell of Titusville, FL; daughter Lori (Tom) also of Titusville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was much loved by all her family, and will be greatly missed.
A private Memorial Service will take place to celebrate her life. Inurnment will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Titusville, FL, next to her husband.
