He grew up in Atlanta, GA and St. Louis, MO, graduating from Kirkwood High School in 1963. He graduated from Emory University in Atlanta in 1967, and was a member of SAE fraternity. He enrolled in law school at Mercer University, graduating in 1970. He served as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star. He returned to Atlanta, and practiced real estate law for over 40 years, with the last 15 years of his career at Stewart Title as VP, Senior Underwriting Counsel. He leaves his son, and daughter-in-law, Chad and Carrie Harris; Chad's mother, Kay Harris; grandchildren, Grayson and Griffin; and brother and sister-in-law, Brooks and Martha Harris.
