Jerald Eugene "Jerry Gene" Anderson, 87, Chesterfield, died Nov. 29, 2007, at Saint John's Medical Center in Anderson after a brief illness.

He was born Feb. 12, 1920, in Casey, Ill., and lived in Chesterfield since 1967.

He was an insurance adjuster for American States Insurance for 32 years before retiring in 1985.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a 50-year past master of the Casey Masonic Lodge 442. He was also a member of Daleville Masonic Lodge 730, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, Madison County Shrine Club, Murat Temple, Jobs Daughters Bethel's 115 (past associate guardian) in Daleville and 116 in Markleville; founding member of the Highland High School Tip-off Club; and supporter of all Highland sports.

He started the Most Valuable Player Awards Banquet through the Chesterfield Optimist Club, where he was a member and past president, past president of Madison County Lincoln Club, past president of Indiana Insurance Adjusters, Chesterfield American Legion Post 408, and elder emeritus of Chesterfield Christian Church.

Survivors include five children and spouses, Linda and Ronald Geiger of Chesterfield, Trilla and Michael Noland of Chesterfield, Steve and Cathy Badders of Twenty-nine Palms, Calif., Jean Ann and Robert Newman of Rochester, N.Y., and Jerry and Sally Anderson of Greenville, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Ivan and Trilla Victoria (Sedgwick) Anderson; his wife, Martha Lucille (Howell) Anderson, whom he married in March 1961 in Muncie, and who passed away Feb. 1, 2006; and three sisters.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chesterfield Christian Church with Ned Clark officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, and one hour before service Tuesday at the church. A Job's Daughters memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, followed by Masonic rites at 7:30 p.m. by the Daleville Masonic Lodge.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chesterfield Christian Church.
