Mary was the daughter of John B Carter and Elizabeth Mosby. She was called "Polly". She married Charles Beasley in Woodford Co KY on 7 Mar 1804. Her father calls her "Polly" and granted his permission for the marriage. On 5 Nov 1821 in Woodford Co KY, her husband, Charles Beasley, sets up guardianship papers for his four minor children (Cynthia Ann, John N, Mary Lucetta "Polly" and Richard) for their care upon his death. His wife is not present which suggests she is deceased at this time. His wife's father, John B. Carter, is appointed guardian. Charles Beasley likely died before daughter Cynthia's marriage in Jul 1827 as her grandfather, John Carter, gives permission for the marriage.

Polly's burial place is unknown but is perhaps buried in an unmarked grave in the Carter family cemetery in Versailles.
