Lucille Ethel (McCoy) Rose passed away peacefully on September 9, 2021 at Accura HealthCare in Milford, IA with family at her side.

Lucille was born on her family's farm in Terril, IA on August 19, 1925, the fourth of nine children, to Orph and Era McCoy. The family moved to Clarkfield, MN in her Junior year.

After graduation she moved to Spencer where she worked at the dime store.

She married Frank Rose on July 23, 1945 in Elizabeth City, NC. After Frank was discharged from the Navy, they returned to Spencer. They were married 74 years when Frank passed away two years ago.

Lucille's hobbies included reading, sewing, crocheting and needleworking. She loved antiques and, along with her husband, refinished many of them.

She was involved in the Reading With Students Program in Spencer and Weslaco, TX. Lucille was also a member of Tri-T's, Federated Club, Methodist Women's Circle, Eastern Star and Bridge Club. She was a Brownie Leader and room mother.

Lucille and Frank enjoyed spending winters in Weslaco, TX after his retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents, Orph and Era McCoy; brothers and their spouses: Leland (Audrey), Kenneth, Dale (Shirley), Duane (Dorothy) and Delbert (Carol); sisters: Marie (Darrell) Cushman and Colleen Olson; and brother-in-law, Andrew VanDorpe.

Lucille is survived by one sister, Judy VanDorpe of West Fargo, ND; one brother-in-law, Roger Olson of Wood Lake, MN; her children: John (Lois) Rose of West Des Moines, IA, Diane (Richard) Schaefer of Monticello, MN, Barbara Rose of Kew Gardens, NY and Richard Rose of New York, NY; five grandchildren: Lauri (Nick) Smith of Sante Fe, NM, Edward (Kristyn) Rose of Davenport, IA, Jill (Adam) Jenson of McKinney, TX, Kristin Schaefer of Austin, TX and Mark Schaefer of Monticello, MN; eleven great grandchildren: Sophie Cornish, Alex and Ella Rose, all of Davenport, IA, Ethan, Collin, Owen and Cecelia Jenson of McKinney TX and Hailey, Chris, Kyle and Ryan Schaefer of Monticello, MN.

Funeral services will take place 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, September 21, at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. Visitation will take place Monday, September 20, starting at 5:00 P.M., with family present from 5-7:00 P.M., at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer. Riverside Cemetery
