Baab, Dr. Gary H. - Retired Surgeon Age 69, of White Bear Lake On August 26, 2004. Preceded in death by parents, Herbert and Olga Baab. Survived by wife, Marjorie; children, Bryan (Carole), Karla (Mark) Estrello, Kristin (Andy) Kettelhut and Kevin; grandchildren, Austin and Kendall Baab, Lindsay Estrello, Aaron, Benjamin and Samuel Kettelhut; and other relatives. Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather and compassionate and skilled surgeon. He touched the lives of many with his work and his love. He graduated from Wabasso High School, received a Bachelors Degree from Hamline University, St. Paul and a Medical Degree from the University of Minnesota. Upon graduation, Gary served as a General Practioner with the Reserve Corps of the US Public Health Service. He completed his General Surgery Residency at Miller Hospital in St. Paul, MN. He practiced General/Thoracic Surgery for 26 years with St. Paul Associated Surgeons (now MN Surgical Associates). During his tenure, he was an active member of the Medical Staff at Midway Hospital and United Hospital serving as the Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery at Midway Hospital and the Chair of Surgery Committee at United Hospital. Gary enjoyed playing tennis with the 'Net Set' group and upon his retirement in 1996 had many happy times with his family at his lake home in Park Rapids. His humor, good-natured personality and caring demeanor will be missed by all. Visitation Tuesday 4-8 PM at HOLCOMB-HENRY-BOOM FUNERAL HOME 515 Hwy 96 at Mackubin, Shoreview (651-482-7606) and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of service.
