He was born in Somerset county, Pennsylvania, Aug. 8, 1861, son of Dr. D. J. and Mary (Bickly) Speicher.
The family moved to Lester township, Black Hawk county, Iowa, in 1868.
A graduate of the medical college of the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Dr. Speicher, for number of years, practiced medicine in Hudson, Ia. He later entered the ministry and had been pastor many years in the Zion church, Zion City, Ill.
Surviving are his wife, Manetta Bell Spcicher, formerly of Waterloo, and six children by a former marriage: two sons, John, New York City, and Edwin, Zion City, Ill.; four daughters, Mrs. Hugh Gardner, Ree Heights, S.D.; Mrs. Harold Anderson, Los Angeles, Cal.; Mrs. John Cogburn, Ridge Springs, S. C., and Mrs. Harold Conrad, Ottawa, Kan., Mrs. Hubert Beekly, 443 Campbell avenue, is a niece of Dr. Speicher.

Funeral services for Dr. John G. Speicher, 78, retired physician of 2533 Trapp ave., Coconut Grove, who died Saturday at his home after a long illness, will be conducted at 2 p. m. tomorrow in the Gautier funeral home by the Rev. W. G. Voliva of Christian Catholic church, with burial in Woodlawn Park cemetery.
Dr. Speicher came here 11 months ago from Zion, Ill. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Manetta B. Speicher; two sons, Edwin of Zion and John of Long Island; three daughters, Mrs. Hugh Gardner of Reed Heights, S. D.; Mrs. Harold Anderson of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Harold Conrad of Ottawa, Kan.
