In 1866, Ezekiel moved with his wife and children from Pennsylvania to Fulton County, Illinois. They resided there until the fall of 1879, when they came to Fillmore County, Nebraska and took up a homestead of 80 acres.
An attack of paralysis struck Nancy about five months before her death, which occurred June 6, 1886. Ezekiel died March 12, 1891 at the home of his stepson, Samuel Bair.
Ezekiel and Nancy are buried in the Horton Cemetery, northeast of Fairmont, Nebraska on Road 18 (4 miles east of Fairmont on Highway 6, then 3.5 miles north on the west side of the road). Their grave, marked with a small grey headstone, is located in the northwest part of the cemetery.
