His body is believed to be in the Samuel Houston Cemetery on his eldest son's property in Shiloh Township in Iredell County, NC. The grave remained in place until a more recent property owner bulldozed the cemetery in the 1950s. Unfortunately, the stones are lost, but a partial list of those buried there survived and is in the Family History section of the library in Statesville, NC.
