Mr. Brooks was born in Wilkes County, April 18, 1919, to Wiley M. and Maggie Jennings Brooks. He was a member of North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon, an Elder, and president of the Men's Bible Class. Mr. Brooks was the owner of Motor Service Sales, Inc. until his retirement. He served on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Automobile Dealers Assn. Mr. Brooks was the past president of the North Wilkesboro Kiwanis Club and Mulberry Fairplains Fire Department. He was a former Scout Master of Troop 336 and founding member of the Tory Oak Twirlers.
Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife, Mildred Finley Brooks of the home; two sons, Leonard L. Brooks, Jr. of North Wilkesboro and William F. Brooks of Wilkesboro; two grandchildren, Niel Brooks of Wilmington and Laura Baxley of Charlotte; one great grandchild, Brooks Baxley.
