He is preceded in death by his father, Everett Douglas McCord, and mother, Clara Mattie Lou Reasons McCord.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Frankie Graves McCord, his daughters, Samantha McCord Pitt, Tracy McCord Johnson, and adopted grandson, Timothy McCord. Ray was a strong male influence and father-figure to his brother-in-law, Michael Reynolds. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Katy and Joseph Pitt and Sayuri and Kinsley Johnson; and his two brothers, Larry McCord and Bob McCord.
Ray, a retired United States Air Force Veteran, who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life that are reflective of his upbringing included: home-cooked meals, many beloved pets, old country music, traditional hymns, and westerns from his youth. He loved to play cards and ping pong with friends and always had a funny story or joke to share. Ray was a devoted and faithful servant of the Lord and member of the Alamo Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held at Alamo Church of Christ on Thursday morning, September 9th, visitation at 9:30 and service at 10:30, followed by a 1:00 graveside service with military funeral honors at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads.
Ray's gentle spirit, tender heart, and infectious laughter will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
