Elsworth Mapes, for 35 years a justice of the peace at Moline, died of old age at 9 o'clock this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lucy E. Kidder, of Monmouth. Mr. Mapes was a native of Monroe, N. Y., and was 94 years of age. He settled in Moline in 1854 and had resided there until a few years ago, when he went to Monmouth to make his home with his daughter. Four children survive: H. E. Mapes and Mrs. Anna L. Dimock, of Moline: E. A. Mapes, of Baxter Springs, Kan., and Mrs. Lucy Kidder, of Monmouth.
