Ballmes, Joan A. MALTA Joan A. Ballmes, 68, of Cone Flower Ct., died Friday, November 23, 2007 at Saratoga Hospital suddenly. Joan was born in Schenectady, the daughter of Joseph and Pierina Mozzi. She was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. She had worked for the New York State Dept. of Motor Vehicle for 32 years before retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Elks LORES of Rotterdam, the Diva of Malta, the Mont Pleasant Reunion Girls, and a model for Birth Right. Joan loved life, spending time with family, travelling, decorating, yoga and shopping. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Gene Ballmes; two stepsons, Gene Jr. (Kathy) Ballmes of N.C. and David (Holly) Ballmes of Schenectady; a sister and brother Esther (Fred) Muscanell of Rotterdam, and Edy (Ginnie) Mozzi of N.J.; a sister-in-law Marilyn Mozzi of Rotterdam; five grandchildren, Gene III, Brent, Brittney, Kayla and Jacob Ballmes; one great-grandchild, Madison Ballmes and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister and brother Lita LaSalle and Lino Mozzi. Funeral service Tuesday morning 9:15 from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 10:00 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated (1255 Pleasant St., Schenectady). Calling hours Monday afternoon 4:00 to 8:00 in the evening at the funeral home. Interment, Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc., P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13221.
