Jerome Burkhalter, 66, retired farmer, died at 8 p. m. Thursday, Dec. 6, in the St. Elizabeth hospital,Lafayette, where he had been a patient four weeks. Born a mile north of Dayton, he was the son of William H. and Mary Burkhalter, and was married to Mabel Martin, Nov. 5, 1908. He farmed southwest of Mulberry until four years ago, when he moved to Mulberry.

Surviving are the widow, a daughter, Mrs. Donald Lecklitner, of Lafayette route 5, two sisters, Miss Mary Burkhalter and Mrs. Lydia Thanapauer, both of Lafayette, and two grandsons, Max and Dean Lecklitner.

Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon at the Baker funeral home in Dayton. The Rev. H. C. Stolldorff of Lafayette and the Rev. W. J. Butt of Mulberry officiated. Miss Velma Rohler sang. Burial was in the Dayton cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronald Shive, William Glick, Harry Osmun, Charles Peters, Wilson Bull and Charles Chamberlin.
