Anna Barnes Taken By Death

Anna Lessie Barnes, 73, died at her home at 512 North Adams at 8:15 Monday morning. Daughter of Luther and Sarah Belle (Steele) Johnson she was born May 27, 1884, in Des Moines county. She had been a resident of Mt. Pleasant for the past 52 years. On November 15, 1905, she was married to Sumner Barnes.Mrs. Barnes was an active and faithful member of the First Methodist church.She is survived by her husband, three children, Guy E. of Davenport; William Sumner of Battle Creek, Mich., and Belle Mace of Klamath Falls, Ore., and four grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister and two brothers, Florence Gillis of Los Angeles, Calif., John L. Johnson of South Pasadena, Calif., and E. W. Johnson of Waterloo.Funeral services will be held at the First Methodist church at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday with Dr. E. A. Mathews officiating. Interment will be at Forest Home cemetery.Friends may call at the Crane Funeral Home Tuesday evening. The casket will be open at the church only before the service.
