Lauisa (Spahr) Rieger. On December 2, 1930 Carl was united in marriage to
Vivian Lucille Gardiner at Council Bluffs, Iowa. They were blessed to celebrate 72 years of marriage. Carl passed away on January 17, 2003 at the Utica Community Care Center at the age of 96 years, 1 month, and 5 days. He is [was] survived by his wife, Vivian; their children and spouses. Grandpa Rieger was a kind man who worked hard all his life to provide for his family. He was mischievious and loved to tease the grandkids and greatgrandkids. After retiring from the farm, grandpa and grandma owned and operated a small cafe in Utica, Nebraska. When the closed this business, Grandpa kept on working as the janitor for the Utica Public School. He was honored by the school when he retired with a full page in the High School Annual.
