Norman C. Groft, 82, of Port St. Lucie, FL, formerly of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care 11:40 P.M. Saturday evening, April 7, 2007 at Kindred Hospital, Fort Lauderdale, FL. He was the husband of Mary C. Reck Groft to whom he was married over 59 years.

Born in Gettysburg on May 28, 1924, he was the son of the late George N. and Carolyn Nunemaker Groft.

Mr. Groft had been the Manager of Benn's Clothing Store in Gettysburg for 42 years until his retirement in 1991.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Hanover Post 2506 where he was a former Secretary/Finance Officer, and the Hanover Home Association.

Mr. Groft attended St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

During World War II, he served with the Military Police as a Staff Sergeant in Europe during the Army of Occuapation.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Joy E. Neiderer and husband Michael A. of Queenstown, MD, a son Jamie L. Groft and wife Keely with whom he lived for three years, 2 grandchildren Misti Shaffer and husband Brian, Dr. Michael Neiderer and wife Kate, 2 great grandchildren Michaela Shaffer, Joshua Shaffer and a sister Geraldine Inskip of York.

A graveside service will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover with military honors by the Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
