Richard Merry, of R. 1, Mitchell, died at 11:45 a.m. Thursday at his home.

He was born in Lawrence County April 14, 1912, the son of Milton and Nora Blackwell Merry. On July 4, 1933, he married Pauline Tincher who survives.

He was a member of the Breeze Hill Church of Christ and was a retired employee of the Holsum Bakery in Bedford.

Surviving with the wife are two sons, Watson Merry of R. 1, Mitchell, and Kenneth Merry of Mitchell; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Robert Merry of Louisville, Ky., and Willard Merry of R. 3, Orleans; five sisters, Netha White of Bedford, Hazel Terrell of Orleans, Mabel Carter of Mitchell, Hallen Clutts of Shoals, and Bessie Jetts of Washington, Ind. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Memorial Chapel of the Chastain Funeral Home in Mitchell with Rev. Howard Wardrip officiating. Burial will be in Bryantsville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today. Casket bearers will be Robert J. Burton, James King, Danny Williams, Don White, Ralph King and James Barlow.
