Obituary - Bertha Lazenby Jensen "A life of Service" Bertha Lazenby Jensen, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died April 12, 2007 in Nampa, Idaho. Bertha was born March 5, 1917 at Loa, Utah and is the eighth of 10 children of Moroni and Rosa May Lazenby.
Bertha grew up in Aurora, Utah and with her family owned and worked a beet farm. She was an excellent student and graduated in 1936 from Salina High School.
She met Rulen L. Jensen at the Coconut Grove in Salt Lake City, and they were married in the Manti Temple September 19th, 1938.
Bertha was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served mostly in the Primary, from a teacher to stake Primary president. She has served in Relief Society presidencies in her ward and in the stake as well. For a period of time, she also enjoyed doing record extraction. She loved serving her friends and neighbors and especially liked doing temple work with her husband, Rulen. The things Bertha loved most in her life were the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ and her family.
Her daughters survive Bertha, Evelyn Boehm of Fair Oaks, CA, and Beverly Frantz of Washington, UT; and son, Steven Jensen of Boise, ID. Bertha has six grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are two sisters, Koa Taylor Morrell of St. George, UT, and Barbara Fredericksen of Boise, ID.
A viewing will be held Monday, April 16th from 6-8 p.m. at the Lakeridge 6th Ward, located at 575 South 400 W. Orem, UT. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 17th at the same location. Her burial will follow the service at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 So. 1700 E, Sandy, UT.
