Alonzo was a barber and lived in Illinois for many years. Alonzo lost two wives and his two children before his death. His son Roy, b.1883 from his marriage to Katie C Archer, died in a train accident in Michigan in 1915. His burial site is unknown, he was not married and had no children. After his daughter Lola's untimely death (1904) Alonzo's grandson, Merton Ahrens was raised by his grandparents Debra and Charles Rowe, and his infant granddaughter, Margaret Ahrens was adopted by the Kelley family of Paxton. She later married Albert Mitch.
