Obituary for Omie Mae Burns (Dukes)
Mrs. Omie Mae Burns went home to be with Jesus on Sunday August 22nd. 2021 at age 81 while being cared for by her granddaughter , Christen. She was surrounded by her loving family at home. Mrs. Burns was born to Vernon and Jewel Dukes on April 14, 1940. She had four brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Burns married her husband James Burns on May 11, 1961 and together they raised 6 boys. She had unconditional love for her family. Surviving Mrs. Burns are her husband James Burns, sons James Ray Burns (Lily), Eddie Burns (Lisa), Daniel Burns (Amy), brother Lonnie Dukes (Kay), grandchildren, great grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. She is Preceded in death by three sons, Johnny Wayne Burns, Douglas "Twig" Burns and David Bernard Burns.

Mrs. Burns loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir. She loved to sing. She loved reading her bible and Psalm 91 was her favorite scripture. She enjoyed quilting, canning vegetables from her garden and tending to her flowers. She would listen to gospel music while she worked. Her ministry to God was to provide food and comfort to her loved ones and anyone in need.

The family will receive friends at the Bullard Farm and Pavilion, 3019 County Hwy. 14, Altoona, AL 35952 Thursday - August 26th, 2021 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am with Funeral Services to follow at the Pavilion at 11:00 am . Burial will be at Liberty Hill Cemetery, Hwy 26, Blountsville, Al following services.
