Nancy Jane Deason was the youngest daughter and child of Jeremiah Deason and Frances Charlotte McFarlin Johnson. She was born in Rusk County, Texas, and moved to Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, with her mother. Her father had died of battle injuries in Camp Mills, Arkansas, shortly after Nancy's birth. He'd been a Confederate soldier, enlisted in Company H, 19th Infantry Regiment of Texas in 1862, and died in 1863.

In 1870 Census, Nancy was living in Pct 4, Rusk, Texas, Dwelling #647, Family #660: Francis Deason age 36, Thomas age 14, and Nancey age 7

By 1880 Census, Frances Deason and her daughter, Nancy were in the 8th Ward of Claiborne Parish, Dwelling #2, Family #2.

In 16 Nov 1884, Pate married Nancy Jane Deason [dau of Jeremiah Deason (1829-1863) and Frances Charlotte McFarlin Johnson-Deason] in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana.

Nancy and Pate Cupp moved back to Texas, first to Panola County, before moving on to Milam and Burleson Counties where their children all settled.

In 1900 Census the Cupps were in Woods, Panola County, TX: William P Cupps, age 43, was living with his wife, Nannie J (Nancy Jane) age 37, in Dwelling #36, Family #37, with their children: Robert E age 14, Blench(Blanche) 11, Fannie M age 6, Onnie D age 3, & Mertie M age 5 months.

By 1910 Census, the family had settled in JPct 3, Milam County, TX, Dwelling #160, Family #160. Pate Cupp age 52, Nannie age 46, Blanch 20, Ona (Onie) age 14, and Ellis age 6.

Nancy was widowed in 1912, and was supported by her sons (as indicated in Onie Douglas Cupp's 1917 draft card!). In 1930, she was living in Burleson County, Texas, in 1935, she was in Winkler County, Texas, and back in Burleson County by 1940.

1930 Census, Nancy was living with her son, Robert, and his last wife Susie, & their children, in Pct 8, Burleson, TX, Dwelling #81, Family #82: R Edgar Cupps age 43, Susie 41, Stella 14, Louise 6, Oleta Walker 16, Woodrow Walker 14, Nancy Cupps 68.

1940 Census, Nancy was living with a sort-of grandson, Woodrow WIlson Walker, the son of "Susie" Elizabeth Finklea-Walker-Cupp. Other Places, Burleson, TX, Household #299: W Woodrow Walker age 24, L. Juanita age 16, Nancy J Cupps, age 77.

She died 24 Jul 1942 in Limestone County at the home of her daughter, Blanche Cupp-Luce, near Mart, TX. Five of her children were alive at the time of her death (R. E., Blanche, Fannie, Onnie, and Ellis). Nancy Jane died of a cerebral apoplexy. Her tombstone was simply "Grandma Cupp" to match her husband's stone.

Nancy Jane Deason Cupp was born Sept 4, 1861. At the age of 21, she was married to William Pate Cupp. To this union was born six children, of which five are living. (Robert) Edgar of Somerville, Onnie of Odessa, Ellis of Mis(issippi), Mrs. Walter Pucket (Mary "Fannie" Frances Cupp) of Monahans and Mrs. Joe Luce (Blanchie Cleora Cupp) of Mart. Sixteen grandchildren and 13 great-grand children. Joined Church at the age of 18. Later joined the Full Gospel. W. P. died at the age of 57.
