Martin Avelino Avalos Sr. 59, was born September 28, 1948 in Lemore, Ca, the son of Avelino and Mauricia Avalos. He lived in Hanford, CA for 14 years and was raised by his grandparents, Pedro and Mauricia Subia. He moved with his grandparents to San Jose, Arizona, in 1962 to be closer to his parents, brothers and sisters. He completed the eleventh grade and moved to Tucson, AZ, and attended Barber School and received his Barber License. He loved to cut hair and excelled in his barber skills and was always requested by customers, however he later entered the security career field and became an Arizona Department of Corrections Officer and Security Officer for the Arizona Inn for the last part of his life. He excelled as a K-9 handler in the Arizona State Prisons in Fort Grant, Safford, and Tucson, AZ. Martin met Rita Orta on Thursday, May 18, 1999 and married her five days later-it was love at first sight! He loved making people laugh, deer hunting and wood carving. He enjoyed horses and the outdoors and was a true cowboy. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Pedro and Mauricia Subia; parents, Avelino Avalos and Mauricia Avalos-Karnofsky; sister, Priscilla Avalos, and daughter, Veronica Avalos. He is survived by his wife, Rita; two sons, Martin Avalos Jr. (Ana), and Leonard Aros III (Celia); two daughters, Tina Garcia (Martin), and Michelle Avalos-Valenzuela (Jesus) Martin is also father to Randy & Martina Avalos from Tucson and their mother is Clara Ortiz ;five brothers; five sisters. and 18 grandchildren. Serving as casket bearers are brothers, Edward Avalos, Joey Avalos, Peter Avalos, Raymond Avalos, Michael Avalos, and Brian Salado; and son Leonard Aros III. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2007, 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave. Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m., St. John's Church, 602 W. Ajo Way. Interment at South Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements by CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY.
