Born on May 29, 1942, in Chicago, Cindy was adopted by her pre-deceased parents – Henry and Pern Hilton. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Orlando where she enjoyed boating, skiing, horses, and her model T (Lizzie), which she drove to Boone High School. She and her husband, V. Patrick Heaney, were high school sweethearts and married July 22, 1960.
Cindy had an unselfish and caring heart, giving all that she had to anyone that needed help or that extra feeling of belonging. She was always on the lookout for, and taking pictures of, God's perfect paintings – sunrises or sunsets, fog on the meadow, clouds in the sky or across the mountain tops, animals in their curious or funny poses. She loved birthdays, eating out, and Heaney Family parties! She went out of her way to make sure everyone had a great time. The holidays were her favorite - filled with decorations, dressing up herself (and everyone else), as well as celebrating with family and friends as often as possible. Cindy ADORED animals!
The family moved to her dream location - "Misty Meadows" the 15-acre farm in East Orlando in 1971. She supported her children in every way. From raising farm animals of all types, leading their school PTAs, taking them to sports practice and games, to even massaging sore muscles! She loved being a grandmother to her grandkids, great grandkids, and even some that weren't related called her Grandma Cindy.
She led a successful career with the Orange County Sheriff's Department as the Mail Room Supervisor in the Orange County Corrections Department, which implemented many new procedures because of her work. She CHERISHED this country and was not afraid to be a vocal advocate for our veterans and The Constitution. She was an active member of several veteran organizations, the Red Hats and Purple Hats Societies, and her high school reunion committee. Once retired, Cindy became a world traveler and visited the Middle East, the Orient, Australia, South America, Europe, Africa, the Artic, most of the US, and much more!
Holding on to her memories and missing her dearly will be Pat, her husband of 61 years, her children and their spouses - Pamela Heaney Hargis (Jim Hargis), Jeffrey Patrick Heaney (Sharon Kurtz Heaney), David Heaney – deceased (Sheri Phillips Heaney); her 6 grandchildren and their spouses/SOs – Jonathan Hargis (Deanna DeSanto), Jennifer Hargis (Walter Hallam), Andrew Heaney, Ashley Heaney (Brandon Benton), Krystina Heaney Lent (Devan Lent), and Taylor Heaney; her 12 great-grandchildren, and her large extended family on all sides and many cherished friends.
