Services for Herman S. Cathey Sr., 72. of Rt. 3, Johnstown, were 2 today in the chapel of Crouse and Son Funeral Home, Johnstown, with the Rev. Terry Biggs officiating. Burial was in Green Hill Cemetery, Johnstown. Mr. Cathey died Friday evening in Mercy Hospital. Columbus, where he had been a patient for 12 days. He was born Aug. 16, 1904, in Charlotte, N.C., to the late Walter G. and Ila (White) Cathey. He was a member of the Durham Memorial Baptist Church, Charlotte. . Surviving are his widow, Ada (Levy) Cathey of the home; five sons: Herman Jr., of Johnstown, Robert and Archie, both of Columbus, Roderick of Grove City and Joe of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; two daughters: Mrs. Margaret Milliken of Wilmington, N.C., and Mrs. Joyce Soles, of Jacksonville, N.C.; a brother, Floyd Cathey of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; two half-brothers: Roland Cathey of Pinellas Park, Fla., and W.G. Cathey of Charlotte; IS grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One sister is dead.
