His battle with cancer showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile and his colorful sense of humor. Despite the pain, Alan came out a hero to his family and stayed strong until the end. He was a lifelong Hoosiers, Colts, Yankees, and Indy 500 fan and he really loved playing the slots. He was also a huge Rock 'n Roll fan and passed this love of rock music to his sons and grandson. Alan retired from Kroger/Transervice after over 25 years of service. When Alan first met the love of his life, Dana, he told his parents he knew he was going to marry her after their very first date. It was love at first sight and their marriage continued for 44 years.
Alan is survived by his wife, Dana (Harris), two sons Jason and Justin, his grandson Cooper, his brother Jerry Payton and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Betty "Boots" Leach and Earl "Bud" Payton.
