BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Clara Florence Urso Belcastro, 92, of Bridgeport, WV, passed away at her home surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.
She was born on March 10, 1929, in Morgantown, WV, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Rosina Romano Urso.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, on January 2, 2014, Joseph Belcastro, whom she wed on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1957.
She is survived by three daughters, Anna Marie Holmes and husband, Robert F., Rosemary L. Lamm and her husband, Stephen T. and Teresa J. Martin and her husband, Stephen W.. She was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Robert A. Holmes (Jamie), Andrew F. Holmes, Stephen M. Lamm (Katelyn), Shawn J. Lamm (Allison), Maleea J. Martin and Marissa A. Martin and 3 great-grandsons, Austin Lamm, Aaron Lamm and Jackson Lamm. Also, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Shirley Urso and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Tony S. Urso; sister-in-law, Teresa Belcastro Ventura; brother-in-law, John Ventura; sister-in-law, Emma Portaro Belcastro; brother-in-law, Patsy Belcastro; sister-in-law, Rosa Ventura Belcastro and brother-in-law, Samuel Belcastro.
Clara was a graduate of Morgantown High School. After graduation, she worked at Wilkins Motor and then went on to work at WVU in the controller's office. She moved to Bridgeport after marriage. She was a spiritual lady and devoted to her Catholic faith throughout her life. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, where she attended mass and sang in the choir. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, Mamaw and Gigi. Her days as a Mamaw and Gigi were special and fulfilling. She greatly enjoyed reading, cooking/baking and spending time with family. Her kind, positive, loving heart and unselfish nature will truly be missed by many.
The family is deeply grateful for the care, support and love provided from all her caregivers who spent time with her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Saints Catholic Church at 317 E. Main St., Bridgeport WV 26330 or to Amedisys Hospice, 67 Casino Drive, Suite 102, Anmoore, WV 26323.
Family and friends may gather at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, WV, from 2 - 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 22, 2021, with the Vigil Service being held at 6:30 p.m. to conclude the visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at All Saints Catholic Church, 317 E. Main St., Bridgeport, at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 23, 2021, with Father Walt Jagela as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Bridgeport Cemetery.
