Barbara Ann Waide LaPerna passed away peacefully in her home on August 13, 2021, at the age of 89. A descendent of two pioneer families of Texas, Barbara was born on February 13, 1932, in the Texas Panhandle and was raised there. She was said to be an excellent horseback rider as a young woman but never learned to drive a car. She moved to Houston after high school for job opportunities. In Houston, Barbara met and married, Angelo LaPerna Sr., a first-generation Italian American. Barbara and Angelo lived in League City, TX for a few years where they started their family and later settled in Conroe, TX to raise their 5 children. After Angelo's passing in 2013, Barbara moved to North Carolina to be close to more of her children as her health declined.
Barbara was a simple, humble, and patient woman who loved The Lord, His Church, her family, and friends with all her heart.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Angelo, mother: Charlotte Biggs Waide, father: Lewis J. Waide, brother: Gene Terry Waide, and sister: Mona Waide Creech.

Barbara leaves behind her five children: Charlotte LaPerna Knox (John), Angelo A. LaPerna Jr., James T, LaPerna ( Huong Le), Lawrence E. LaPerna, Fran LaPerna Sanders (Todd);
Seven grandchildren: Jeremiah D. Knox, Jared M. Knox, Justin T. Knox, Elizabeth LaPerna, Catherine LaPerna, LaJuan LaPerna, and Lawrence LaPerna
five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and her siblings: Peggy Sue Waide Ray, James "JJ" Waide, Lewis "Ricky" Waide and, Roy Waide,

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM followed by a funeral Mass at 2:00 pm at Saint Mary, Mother of the Church 1008 Vandora Springs Rd., Garner, NC

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021, at 11:00 am at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetary, 6900 Lawndale St., Houston Texas where Barbara will be laid to rest with Angelo
